Our position at noon today off the coast of California heading to San Francisco. Kind of a gloomy day with some showers earlier this morning. 62 degrees.
LAST NIGHT:
Finally remembered to have someone take a photo of us. This is our usual table in the corner of Prime 7.
Wayan, Bali Mafia as I call him, our waiter as usual also. Our good friend and a sommelier, Grace, served our wines. Normal La Crema chardonnay and I had Cashmere cabernet for my red.
I started with this crab cake followed by some clam chowder.
Rebecca had half of a wedge salad.
We both chose the surf & turf. A 6 ounce filet cooked a perfect medium rare with three creole style jumbo shrimp. We asked for extra creole spice on the shrimp. I had a baked potato and we shared some creamed spinach. WE BOTH THOUGHT THIS WAS THE BEST EVER DINNER WE HAVE HAD IN PRIME 7. Loved the shrimp. And we have had many over the years.
I decided on this 14 layer chocolate cake for my dessert. Jeff will probably have to have one when he joins us on the 25th.
TODAY:
Surprisingly, fitness center was not busy this morning and we were only ones on treadmill besides our friend, Sandy. Very smooth sailing again today but it is a gloomy, cool day. They had a Tex-Mex buffet at the pool grill for a lunch option. I had a couple beef tacos, refried beans, and some guacamole and took it into La Veranda as too cool to sit out.
Chicken and a couple kinds of beef to make tacos or burritos.Refried beans, mashed sweet potatos, corn, and rice.
Goodies to put on tacos, chips, or burritos. The guacamole was fresh with avocado chunks.
Lazy afternoon just relaxing in our suite. Ship is cold so you need a sweater or light jacket when on decks 5, 6, or 7. We were just checking out the boutique as have $800 ship board credit to spend. It was cold there and did not see anything we need. Rebecca watched her soaps this afternoon as they are being streamed on Paramount Plus.
Cocktail hour in the suite 6 to 7pm. Siva will bring our poppers and I will make a Grey Goose martini. Actually, just vodka on the rocks. I like my martinis very dry. The chef is supposed to be preparing veal osso bucco for us in Compass Rose for tonight's dinner.
If he forgets, looks like we will do the chicken parmesan of the Compass Rose menu. Cherisse Martinelli, the social hostess, will be doing a pre-dinner cabaret show at 6pm in the theater. As I mentioned earlier, we will be doing cocktails then in our suite. Tonight they will be showing the movie, "Downton Abbey" in the theater at 8:45 (we can watch that on our suite tv anytime). At 9pm there will be a Beatles Dance Party in the Horizon Lounge. Not going to that either.
When we arrive in San Francisco tomorrow morning, everyone on the ship will have to go into the cruise terminal and do a face-to-face clearing with US Customs & Border Protection. Most people will be going on tours after they clear. We are not and no one can come back on board the ship until EVERYONE has cleared. So our plan is to go to a Safeway and Walgreens to do some shopping after we clear. That way we will not have to sit in the terminal. I have located them on Google Maps and not far from Pier 27 where we will be docked.
We should be docked at Pier 27 by 8am tomorrow morning so should be going under the Golden Gate Bridge just before 7. We will be overnighting in San Fran and not scheduled to depart until 3pm on Thursday.
