LAST NIGHT:
The chef did prepare the veal osso buco for us. It was served on creamy polenta. Best osso buco EVER!I asked if the chef could come to our table so I could personally thank him. This is our Executive Chef, Oleksandr. What a name!! I'll have to ask what country he is from. He recently John Pugh as he left on vacation.
TODAY:
The face-to-face Customs and Border Control inspection in the cruise terminal began a half hour earlier than planned. So they started calling passengers by deck at 8am. They started with deck 11 and went down. Our deck 8 was called at 8:45 and it was no lines. Easy Peasy! After showing our passports to the officer we headed to Safeway and Walgreens.
Walking down the street with other piers on our way to Bay Street. This is where the tour boats out to Alcatraz embark and disembark. It is at Pier 33 and just a bit further down the street we hung a left and walked up Bay St. It was probably over a half mile walk up to the Safeway grocery store.
If you watch the news you will know that crime in San Francisco and other California cites is pretty bad with "smash and grab" happening to stores. At the entrance to this Safeway there were two security guards and I saw another walking around inside. It addition, many of the shelves had locks on them like in this photo. Yes, this is Nancy Pelosi's home town. Defund the police movement really sucks. Here's what I got at Safeway. Some turkey gravy which I will ask the chef to heat up next time they have turkey on the menu. Regent's idea of turkey gravy is a dark brown and not good. I want him to see what it is really supposed to look like. The candy is for giving to the crew when they serve us. You should see there eyes light up as they all love candy. Our next stop was a Walgreens just a few more blocks down Bay St. We got a couple boxes of Sudafed for Rebecca.
Here is our ship as we returned to Pier 27. This is the same pier that we departed from on our world cruise last January. We were off the ship for 1 1/2 hours as we returned at 10:30. No need to do treadmill time today as we had a nice long walk. Waiting for noon and lunch as I am hungry. The crew was having another emergency drill when we returned.

We went up to the La Veranda buffet at noon. I was looking at what was on the buffet and some lady was coughing all over it. So I went out to the pool grill and ordered a hamburger with a few fries. The burgers there are really good.
This afternoon the sun is burning its way through the clouds so I went up to deck 12 and took some photos.
Coit Tower
This is Silversea Cruises "Silver Wind". She is on a 11 day cruise from Vancouver to San Diego.
The Golden Gate Bridge in the distance.
Alcatraz Oakland Bay Bridge
Pool deck is empty so far today.
This ladder was dangling from deck 12. Guess they were doing some maintenance below later.
This is the Observation Lounge on deck 12 forward. Nice views from up here.

Plan for this evening is cocktail hour in our suite again at 6pm. Dinner in Sette Mari with my veal parmesan again at 7pm. They are showing the movie, "Elvis", in the theater at 8:45. Again we can watch it on our suite tv any time we want. Andy, our cruise director until LA, will have a cabaret show in the Horizon Lounge at 9pm. Not sure what we will do after dinner.
We are remaining over night in port. We'll be sailing tomorrow at 3pm for Santa Barbara, California.
