This was our position at 1pm today off the coast of Baja California. At noon the Captain said we were half way to Cabo San Lucas. It is mostly sunny and 72 degrees today.
LAST NIGHT:
We had cocktails in our poppers in the Mariner Lounge at 5:45. The new bartender there this segment is Paul. Took over 10 minutes to serve us sitting at the bar. We miss Viktoria. At 6:30 we walked through Compass Rose to get to the back elevators to go up to Sette Mari for dinner.
Grace presenting the Amarone wine I had ordered. Jeff & I finished off what was left of the Caymus we enjoyed the night before first. Rebecca and Jeff had the chicken parmesan. Huge portion.
As usual this is my veal parmesanSitting next to us on the front row stage left was Tom Franek. He will be the comedy pianist entertainer next night.
Cruise director, Jude, introducing the production show, "Tuxedo".
Great dancers and the female singers are very good but again the male singers not so good. This cast will be going home on vacation the same day we disembark. We hope the world cruise cast will be very good.
TODAY:
Clocks set one hour forward last night so got up later this morning to account for sleep loss. I was up on deck 12 track by 8:40 for my hour fast walk. Rebecca had breakfast later so just got back now (10:30) from her treadmill time. Got an email from Jeff with what he is planning for today.
At 10am he went to a lecture by Dr James Kus on Baja California and Cabo. I met him at 11am in the Horizon Lounge for bingo. Jeff played but I didn't. He did not win any of the games.
This was our view of the ship's wake from our bingo seats in the Horizon Lounge. We met Jeff at the entrance to Compass Rose at noon for a bite of lunch. We had a pleasant surprise as our long time head waiter friend, Donald, just boarded when in LA. He will be assuming his normal position as maitre'd in Sette Mari on when we disembark on Nov 3rd. I enjoyed this salmon for lunch. Jeff had a chicken Caesar salad and Rebecca had her normal Atkins bar. Jeff will be going to another lecture this afternoon and then the afternoon tea time with cupcakes at 4pm. We are hanging out in our suite this afternoon. I am filling out our private van request to the Long Beach Airport when we disembark on Nov 3rd. It is one of our Titanium benefits. Jeff will be riding with us.
We have been invited to a private cocktail party in the theater at 5pm by "Distinctive Voyages" because Pavlus Travel (our travel agency) has a relationship with them. They are also hosting a special tour with lunch when we are in Puerto Vallarta on Oct 31st. Jeff was also supposed to get an invitation but didn't so to hell with them. We will not be doing either.
Siva will be bringing our pigs in a blanket a little early today as there is another ship's "block party" at 6pm. I explained what that is on one of last segment's posts. We will attend them when on next year's world cruise as we will know many of those folks.
I told Siva that I will be making our Manhattans in the suite so he brought me a bottle of sweet vermouth. Way more than I will ever need.
Dinner this evening after our in suite cocktail hour will be in Compass Rose. We plan to attend Tom Franek's show in the theater at 9:30.
Jeff is eyeballing the beef stir fry while we will have our usual entree portions of the crispy fried tiger prawns which is on menu as an appetizer. We will be arriving off shore Cabo tomorrow by 10am. Again, Cabo does not have a pier so we will be anchored in the bay. Tenders (ship's life boats) will be used to move people to the shore. Jeff has a beach horse back ride tour scheduled. Nothing for us. If there are no other cruise ships there I might take the tender in for a little while.
