DAY 11--AT SEA OFF THE COAST OF CALIFORNIA

 

Our position at noon today approaching LA.  Will be arriving at San Pedro cruise port by 6am tomorrow.  It is the end of this cruise segment so most passengers will be disembarking and new ones boarding starting at noon.  So far today it is overcast and 68 degrees.

LAST NIGHT:

Makers Mark Manhattan and some jalapeno poppers in Mariner Lounge at 6pm.  I ran a couple poppers up to Rebecca.

Rey had my table ready in Sette Mari when I arrived there at 6:30.  Thought the view up there at my window table would be better for the sail out.  Unfortunately, it was dark when we went under the Golden Gate Bridge.

Skinny adding some parmesan cheese to my veal parm and spaghetti.  Rey, maite'd, watching.

Outside at the pool grill they had a USA theme for those who wanted to dine informally.

TODAY:

        Ok, at 8am two medical techs showed up at my door and said I was in close contact with someone who tested positive.  So they tested me.  Would not say who the contact was. Rebecca was also tested this morning as is day 5 for her in isolation.

        An hour later medical called and said I was negative.  So I asked how Rebecca's test results were.  They told me she also tested negative but would be tested again tomorrow morning and if negative she would be released.

        Then a short time later Rebecca called  me and said they told her she tested positive!  Of course she was upset.  So I went down to have the Exec Concierge find out what the hell was going on in medical.  He was not at his desk then so I returned later.  I told him and the general mgr what we had been told.  So William called the infectious medical person to get the straight answer.  He then told me that she did test positive this morning.  Said they would test her again tomorrow morning.  If negative, she would be released.  We are to move to a penthouse suite down the hall tomorrow (832).  If she tests positive again she will move into 832 with me as the ship is fully booked and no place to isolate her.  William said if there is a cancellation tomorrow she will move to that suite until negative.  But as of now if she moves in with me in 832 then we will BOTH have to isolate for 3 more days.  If I get it from her we could be isolated for a long time.  BIG mess.  She says she is no long coughing and probably not infectious I HOPE.

        I had the lasagna for lunch in Compass Rose.  Not as good as it has a bechamel sauce.  Very filling so could only eat a little.

        I spoke with the restaurant manager and filled him in on possibly the both of us being isolated starting tomorrow.  I also talked to the maitre'd in Chartreuse (French restaurant) saying Rebecca wanted to order their Dover Sole with a lemon, caper sauce for dinner this evening.  Then I talked to the maitre'd in Prime 7 to see if I could get in there this evening.  I now have a 7pm reservation there.

        We both have been following the Cowboy's game on our phones.  Just see the play-by-play, not the game as it is on tv. 

        I will start packing up this afternoon for the move to suite #832.  Housekeeping will come tomorrow morning and help with the move.  All hanging clothes will remain on hangers and transferred that way.  I spoke with our head housekeeper and she confirmed that ALL suites will be sprayed tomorrow with the electrostatic sprayer to help rid them of the virus.

        I will not be going to the shows after dinner.  Just be safe and head back to my suite.  Well, tomorrow will be another very interesting day.  Praying Rebecca tests negative but have my doubts.  When I had covid on the world cruise I was still testing positive after 10 days.
